LGA1700 processors: lowest prices
An LGA1700 processor is the CPU designed for Intel's LGA1700 socket — the main chip that does the actual computing in a desktop PC, from spreadsheets and web browsing to gaming, photo editing, and design work. On this page you can compare current prices across the stores we track and see which devices in our catalog accept these chips (11 in all, including several Dell OptiPlex and Precision models, an HP EliteDesk and ProDesk, a Gigabyte Z790 board, and the Alienware Aurora R16). Before you buy, check the socket, the chipset and BIOS support, and the cooling and power your system can provide.

Before you buy
- Match the whole system, not just the socket. LGA1700 covers many different chips, so confirm your device or motherboard chipset supports the model you want and that the BIOS is recent enough to recognize it. A board and chip that share a socket can still need a firmware update to work together.
- Choose cores and clock speed for what you actually do. More cores help with multitasking, rendering, and content creation; higher clock speeds and strong single-core performance matter more for everyday work and many games. There's no need to buy more processing power than your workload will use.
- Mind heat and power, especially in compact systems. Small Form Factor, Micro, and Desktop Mini cases have less room for cooling, so a hotter-running chip may run louder or throttle. Check the cooler you have, the thermal design power of the chip, and the clearance inside the case before upgrading.
Questions
Will an LGA1700 processor fit my device?
Physically, any LGA1700 chip seats in an LGA1700 socket, so it fits desktops and boards built for that socket. Fit in practice depends on more than the pin layout: your cooler must support the socket and clear the case, and the BIOS must be able to boot the chip. Our catalog lists the devices we know these processors fit — check your model there first, and if it isn't listed, verify the socket in your device's specifications or manual.
How much processing power do I need?
For everyday tasks — browsing, office work, streaming — a mid-range chip is usually plenty. Move up if you edit video, render 3D, run virtual machines, compile code, or play demanding games, where extra cores and higher clock speeds make a noticeable difference. Balance the number of cores against clock speed for your workload rather than assuming the biggest number is always best.
Is it compatible with my memory and motherboard?
It depends on the board. LGA1700 systems support DDR4 or DDR5 memory depending on the motherboard, so match the memory type your board uses — the two are not interchangeable. Also confirm the chipset supports the processor tier you want and that the BIOS is up to date; some chips require a firmware update on older boards before they will start.
Should I buy a new or a used processor?
Both can work well. A processor has no moving parts and often outlives the system around it, so used chips are commonly reliable. Weigh the lower cost against what you give up: shorter or no remaining warranty, unknown prior use, and possibly no cooler in the box. If you buy used, check that the seller accepts returns and confirm the chip is the exact model advertised before installing it.
