Alienware Aurora R16 upgrades

CPU is socketed (replaceable) and no memory is soldered, so both RAM and CPU are upgradeable. Motherboard, PSU and front-panel wiring are proprietary, and Dell only validates its own CPU/PSU part list.

Two 288-pin DDR5 UDIMM slots only, so 64 GB (2x32 GB) is a hard ceiling. Non-ECC unbuffered only. Speed varies: 12th-Gen builds cap at 4800 MT/s; the manual says 2x32 GB runs at 5200 MT/s even on 13th/14th-Gen (the product page's 5600 MT/s claim is optimistic). Both slots must be populated for dual-channel.

Two M.2 slots, PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe, up to 4 TB each; slot 1 is the boot drive. Gen5 SSDs work but run at Gen4 speed (no min. generation is required). 2230 drives may need the appropriate mounting hardware/heatsink; the manual notes they ship without one.

Desktop LGA1700 socket (inferred) with Intel Z690 chipset; 12th-, 13th- and 14th-Gen Intel Core CPUs are validated by Dell. 14th-Gen support needs a BIOS update and may be limited to Dell's OEM CPU list. Highest supported TDP is 125 W (i7-14700KF/i9-14900KF); air or liquid cooling as configured at purchase.
