MSI MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI upgrades

Two boards share this name: this one is DDR5; the 'MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4' (same MS-7D32 family) needs DDR4 RAM, has 4x DDR4 slots, 128 GB max and 5200 MT/s (1DPC 1R). Memory is not interchangeable - verify the model string before buying RAM. Only the PCI_E1 x16 slot is Gen 5; marketing mentioning 'Gen 5 M.2' is wrong. Rear display output needs a CPU with integrated graphics.

DDR5 UDIMM only - it will not accept DDR4 (the DDR4 sibling has a nearly identical name). MSI lists 192 GB with 48 GB modules on the current us.msi.com page; the older msi.cn page says 128 GB. Populate DIMMA2 first; 6400 MT/s is 1DPC 1R with XMP enabled in BIOS. Non-ECC unbuffered only.

4x M.2 (Key M) + 6x SATA 6 Gb/s 4 × M.2 2242 / M.2 2260 / M.2 2280 / M.2 22110 (NVMe / SATA)
All four M.2 slots have SHIELD FROZR heatsinks and EZ M.2 clips; only M2_1 accepts 22110. M2_3 is PCIe 3.0 x4; M2_3/M2_4 also take SATA M.2 SSDs, which can disable SATA ports - check the manual's sharing table. No documented capacity ceiling; 2.5"/3.5" bay and thickness limits come from the chassis, not the board.
