Minisforum UM790 Pro upgrades

CPU is not socketed: the Ryzen 9 7940HS (FP7/FP7r2 BGA) is soldered to the board, so there is no CPU slot and no CPU upgrades are possible. The M.2 2230 A/E-key slot is occupied by the Wi-Fi 6E/BT module and is not available for storage. No SATA or memory-card slots. External storage can be added via 2x USB4 (40 Gbps). Only third-party data (65 W) exists for TDP; Minisforum publishes no official figure.

All RAM is socketed; use standard non-ECC unbuffered DDR5 SO-DIMMs (laptop modules). 5600 MT/s is the supported maximum, but many budget modules run at 4800-5600 MT/s depending on JEDEC profile and BIOS. Install at a 45-degree angle per the manual.

RAID 0/1 supported across both slots. Manufacturer lists no capacity cap; the third-party-hosted manual says 2 TB per slot, treat that as a conservative qualification figure rather than a hard limit. No 2.5-inch SATA bay exists in this model. A 40 mm fan cools the SSD area - hot Gen4 drives may throttle if airflow is blocked.
