Minisforum UM580 upgrades
Released 2022 · end of sale
CPU is soldered (BGA FP6 AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, Cezanne/Zen 3) and cannot be upgraded — no CPU socket slot exists. The 5800H runs in roughly 30/45 W modes (cTDP 35-54 W); sources disagree on 35 W vs 45 W. iGPU-only design (Radeon Vega 8), no Thunderbolt/eGPU path. Barebones SKUs ship without RAM, SSD, OS and may lack a Wi-Fi/BT module for the M.2 2230 slot. UM580D on Amazon is the same upgradeable platform; quad-display support is claimed by Minisforum/Newegg but Amazon lists three outputs.

2x SO-DIMM DDR4-3200, up to 64 GB 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 3200 MT/s
Laptop-style DDR4-3200 SO-DIMMs only (not full-size DIMMs), unbuffered non-ECC. Both slots are user-accessible with no soldered RAM. Install a matched pair of 16/32 GB modules for dual-channel bandwidth; single-channel noticeably hurts the Radeon Vega 8 iGPU. Retail listings showing 2133 MHz are a data error — the platform runs DDR4-3200.

1x M.2 2280 (NVMe/SATA) + 1x 2.5" SATA bay 2 × SSD / HDD M.2 2280 / 2.5" (NVMe / SATA) · up to 2 TB
One M.2 2280 M-key slot (NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA/NGFF M.2) plus one 2.5" SATA 3.0 bay — no second M.2 and no PCIe add-in slot. Vendor rates each bay up to 2 TB; 4 TB M.2 drives usually work but are unvalidated. 2.5" drive thickness limit is undocumented: reports say 7 mm fits in the 46.5 mm chassis — verify before buying 9.5 mm drives. The M.2 2230 slot is Wi-Fi only, not storage.
