HP Victus 16 (2021) upgrades

CPU is soldered BGA (FCBGA1787 Tiger Lake-H on 16-d0000, FP6 Cezanne on 16-e0000) at 45 W — no CPU slot and no upgrade path. Verify the exact suffix before buying parts: 2021 16-d0000/16-e0000 use DDR4, while the visually identical 2022 16-e1000 uses DDR5 and 16-d1000 is 12th-gen Intel. RAM/storage access requires removing the bottom panel. Wi-Fi is a replaceable M.2 2230 Key-E card. CPU/GPU not upgradeable.

Two accessible 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMMs, nothing soldered; buy CL22 1.2 V non-ECC unbuffered modules. HP/Kingston document 16 GB per slot / 32 GB total; 2×32 GB (64 GB) reports are unofficial. On i5-11260H/11400H systems RAM runs at 2933 MT/s (3200 modules work but downclock). Matched pairs needed for dual-channel. This applies only to 2021 16-d0000/16-e0000 — the 2022 16-e1000 needs DDR5.

2× M.2 2280 NVMe (no 2.5" bay) 2 × SSD M.2 2280 (NVMe)
Two M.2 2280 NVMe slots, PCIe only — no SATA/2.5" bay at all. On Intel 16-d0000 the primary slot is Gen 4 x4 and the second is Gen 3 x4, so put the boot drive in the Gen 4 slot; AMD models are Gen 4. Use single-sided (single-chip) 2280 drives — double-sided ones may not clear the retention height. HP configs top out at 1 TB but larger drives reportedly work unofficially. RAID 0 was a factory option.
