HP ProDesk 400 G9 Small Form Factor PC upgrades
Memory is not soldered. The slots are user-accessible, and the SFF uses full-size UDIMMs, not SO-DIMMs. Check whether your SKU is DDR4 or DDR5 before buying RAM. The optical bay and SD reader are optional and must be ordered at purchase. No service manual was found, so some details are unconfirmed.

Use non-ECC unbuffered UDIMMs, not SO-DIMMs. DDR4-3200 or DDR5 depending on SKU, and they are not interchangeable. DDR5-5600 modules run at up to 4800 MT/s per HP's support page. Mixed speeds run at the lower speed.

HP offers 1 TB and 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA HDDs. The board has 3 SATA ports in total. A 2.5" drive would need an adapter, and no 2.5" bay is listed for the SFF.
