HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 Notebook PC upgrades
Two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots (up to 2x32 GB) and one M.2 2280 NVMe slot, with no soldered memory. One garbled HP datasheet may say the slots are non-customer-accessible, so check the HP maintenance guide for your SKU.
- SO-DIMM memory slot: 2 × DDR5 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 4800 MT/s
- M.2 NVMe SSD slot: SSD M.2 2280 (NVMe) · up to 2 TB
SO-DIMM memory slot 2 × DDR5 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 4800 MT/s
Dual-channel needs a matched pair; a single module runs single-channel. Most HP sources say DDR5-4800, but one datasheet lists 5600 MT/s, so verify your SKU. HP recommends HP-branded memory. Mixed speeds run at the lower speed.

M.2 NVMe SSD slot SSD M.2 2280 (NVMe) · up to 2 TB
PCIe Gen 4 x4 slot; it takes single-sided 2280 drives. It is the only internal drive slot, so upgrading means replacing or cloning the existing SSD. HP lists 2 TB as the maximum.
