Dell Inspiron 15 3511 upgrades
Released 2021 · end of sale
CPU is soldered (BGA) and not upgradeable - no CPU slot. Two platform generations share the chassis (10th-gen Ice Lake and 11th-gen Tiger Lake, all 15 W); Intel Optane H20 is supported only on 11th-gen configs. Second M.2 2230 slot is Key E for the WLAN card, not storage. SD 3.0 card reader is removable media only.

DDR4 SO-DIMM ×2, up to 16 GB total (2666 MHz) 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 16 GB total · 2666 MT/s
Dell lists 16 GB modules per slot yet caps total at 16 GB, so 2x16 GB (32 GB) is unvalidated/out of spec. Every 3511 CPU has integrated graphics only, so Dell's '3200 MHz with discrete graphics' line does not apply and memory runs at 2666 MHz. Standard unbuffered non-ECC DDR4 SO-DIMMs. 12 GB (4+8) is valid but asymmetric.

M.2 2230/2280 NVMe + 2.5" SATA bay 2 × SSD / HDD M.2 2230 / M.2 2280 / SO-DIMM (NVMe / SATA) · up to 2.048 TB
The 2.5" bay does NOT exist in configurations with the 54 Whr battery (no bracket/cable) - verify before buying a SATA drive. Drive thickness limit is not documented. M.2 slot is NVMe Gen3 x4 only (no SATA M.2); Dell validates 1 TB for 2230 and 2 TB for 2280/2.5". Switch BIOS SATA/NVMe Operation from RAID On (RST) to AHCI for clean installs.
