ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI upgrades

Standard ATX board, nothing soldered: all RAM, storage and the CPU are user-upgradeable. Non-WIFI TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS has identical specs minus wireless; don't confuse with B650E or non-E X670 TUF boards (only E models give PCIe 5.0 on both GPU and M.2_1). Un-buffered ECC works but isn't validated like a server platform.

Dual-channel un-buffered DDR5; ECC and non-ECC both work, RDIMM/LRDIMM will not. 2-stick kits go in A2+B2 (2nd and 4th slot). The 2022 manual lists 128 GB max (32 GB modules) and DDR5-6400+ OC; 192 GB and DDR5-8000+ come from the current spec page and newer BIOS, so update BIOS and check the QVL. EXPO/XMP supported; AMD sweet spot is DDR5-6000 1:1 FCLK.

M.2_1 = PCIe 5.0 x4 (2242/2260/2280), M.2_3 & M.2_4 = PCIe 4.0 x4 (2242/2260/2280), M.2_2 = PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA and is the only 22110 slot. A PCIe drive in M.2_2 disables SATA ports 1 and 2. All slots have heatsinks; M.2_1's larger sink favors the hot Gen5 drive. Drive bays/thickness limits depend on the case, not the board. AMD RAIDXpert2 supports NVMe/SATA RAID 0/1/10.

Ryzen 7000 native; 8000 and 9000 series added via BIOS updates (board has BIOS FlashBack), so update before installing a newer chip. No documented TDP ceiling from ASUS; full 170 W desktop SKUs work with adequate VRM cooling/airflow. Ryzen 8000 APUs cut the primary PCIe slot to x8/x4 and change some M.2 lane behavior. Keep the PnP socket cap — ASUS requires it for RMA.
