Synology DS224+ upgrades
The DS224+ has 2 GB of DDR4 soldered to the board plus one free SO-DIMM slot that takes a single 4 GB module, for 6 GB maximum. Storage is limited to the two SATA drive bays, with no M.2 or memory card slots.

- 3.5"/2.5" drive bay: 2 × HDD / SSD 3.5" / 2.5" (SATA)
SO-DIMM slot DDR4 SO-DIMM · 2 GB soldered · up to 6 GB total · 2666 MT/s
DDR4 non-ECC SO-DIMM only; Synology's own module is D4NESO-2666-4G. Third-party modules void full warranty and support. Slot is inside, reached by removing the drive trays. Speed is inferred from the Synology module part number.
3.5"/2.5" drive bay 2 × HDD / SSD 3.5" / 2.5" (SATA)
Accepts 3.5" SATA HDDs or 2.5" SATA SSDs. Drive thickness limits and per-drive maximum capacity are not stated; check Synology's compatibility list. Installing a drive erases existing data. No M.2 slots.
