Released 2020 · end of sale

CPU is soldered (Intel Celeron J4025, BGA, 10 W) - there is no CPU slot and no upgrade path. RAM: 2 GB DDR4 non-ECC soldered plus one SO-DIMM, 6 GB validated max. Storage limited to 2 SATA bays with no M.2 and no expansion-unit support. First-party (D4NESO-2666-4G) RAM is required to keep full warranty/support.

1x DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM (2 GB soldered) DDR4 SO-DIMM · 2 GB soldered · up to 6 GB total · 2666 MT/s

Single 260-pin DDR4 non-ECC SO-DIMM behind the drive trays; 2 GB is soldered and non-removable, so the ceiling is 2+4=6 GB per Synology (Kingston claims 8 GB, community reports more, all unofficial). Module runs at the CPU's supported frequency, not its rated speed. Synology may void warranty/support with non-Synology RAM. Not hot-swappable - power down and pull trays.

2x SATA hot-swap bays (3.5" / 2.5") 2 × SSD / HDD SO-DIMM (SATA) · up to 32 TB

Two Type D7 trays take 3.5" SATA HDD, 2.5" SATA HDD or 2.5" SATA SSD; no thickness limit is documented. No M.2 cache slots and no eSATA port, so no SSD cache and no DX517 expansion. Documented maximum was 32 TB raw at launch (2x16 TB), while the spec sheet lists a 108 TB max single volume - actual drive support follows Synology's online compatibility list.
