Lenovo ThinkCentre M900 Tower upgrades
Released 2015 · support ended
M900 Tower (MT, types 10FM/10FL/10FR/10FS) only — SFF and Tiny variants differ in bays and media readers (29-in-1 on Tower vs 9-in-1 on SFF). All RAM is socketed (no soldered memory). The optional internal 'M.2 card slot' connector is for Lenovo's proprietary M.2-to-legacy-PCI adapter, not a free PCI slot.

4× DDR4-2133 UDIMM (non-ECC) 4 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 2133 MT/s
All 4 slots are user-accessible (nothing soldered); 64 GB requires 4×16 GB. Only unbuffered non-ECC DDR4 UDIMM 1.2 V fits — SO-DIMM/DDR3/ECC/RDIMM won't POST. Faster DDR4 (2400–3200 MT/s) works but clocks down to 2133 MT/s.

2.5/3.5/5.25" SATA bays + M.2 NVMe 4 × SSD / HDD / HDD / SSD 2.5" / 3.5" / M.2 2280 / M.2 2242 (SATA / NVMe)
4 onboard SATA 6 Gb/s ports (tool-less 3.5"/2.5" bays + 5.25" optical bay, usable with a caddy); optional rear eSATA steals one port, leaving 3 internal. RAID 0/1 only. One M.2 slot (PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe, 32 Gb/s); M.2 lengths are NOT documented in available Lenovo sources (2242/2280 only typical on this platform) — verify the HMM before buying. Bootability may need a BIOS update.

1× LGA1151 (Skylake 6th-gen only) LGA1151 (6th/7th gen) · Core 6th gen, Core 6th gen · max 65 W
Q170-based, replaceable CPU, but Lenovo's official support list stops at 6th-gen Skylake Celeron/Pentium/Core i3/i5/i7 at 65 W max — 7th-gen Kaby Lake and 91 W 'K' parts are not officially supported despite the shared socket. vPro only on i5-6500/6600 and i7-6700.
