4x 288-pin DDR4-2666 UDIMM, non-ECC 4 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 128 GB total · 2666 MT/s

128 GB (4x32 GB) is confirmed by HP's US data sheet and Kingston; HP's Japanese CTO sheet lists 64 GB max, likely an earlier limit. Install in pairs for dual channel. DDR4-2666 only with 9th-Gen i5/i7/i9; i3/Pentium/Celeron run memory at DDR4-2400. Non-ECC UDIMM only, and use low-profile modules so the SFF lid closes.

M.2 2230/2280 NVMe slot (PCIe 3.0 x4) SSD M.2 2230 / M.2 2280 (NVMe) · up to 1.024 TB

Key M slot wired for PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe; M.2 SATA modules are not offered by HP and may not be supported on these business desktops, so verify before buying one. HP validated drives up to 1 TB; larger NVMe SSDs usually work. A separate Key E 2230 slot holds only the WLAN/BT card. Optional Optane caching applies to SATA drives, not NVMe.

Internal 3.5"/2.5" SATA bay HDD / SSD 2.5" / 3.5" (SATA) · up to 2.048 TB

One internal 3.5"/2.5" bay in the standard configuration (SATA-3, 6 Gb/s). The service guide parts list shows an optional second 3.5" HDD in some configurations; check your SKU's drive cage and cables. HP validated up to 2 TB per SATA drive; chassis clearance is the practical limit for 3.5" drives. A separate 9.5 mm slimline optical bay is also present.

LGA1151v2 (Coffee Lake), 1 socket LGA1151 (8th/9th gen) · Core 8th gen, Core 9th gen · max 65 W

Socketed CPU on Intel Q370: 8th-Gen (Coffee Lake) and 9th-Gen (Coffee Lake Refresh) Core i3/i5/i7/i9 plus Pentium Gold and Celeron. Systems shipped with 8th-Gen CPUs may need a BIOS update before accepting 9th-Gen chips. 65 W TDP limit - no 95/125 W K-series parts. The i5-9500F has no integrated graphics and needs a discrete GPU. No 10th-Gen support (different socket).
