HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF (board 'Trumpet-R', Q370). All 4 DIMM slots are user-accessible (nothing soldered); the CPU is socketed/replaceable. SFF/TWR only: 4 DIMMs, 128 GB max, PCIe slots and 3.5 in. bays — the DM/AiO variants use 2 SO-DIMMs and 64 GB max. Expansion is low-profile cards only: 2x PCIe 3.0 x1, 1x PCIe 3.0 x16 (x16 electrical), 1x x16 slot wired x4. Also present: slim 9 mm SATA optical bay (no half-height 5.25 in. bay) and an optional SD card reader. Chassis/PSU limit discrete GPU length and wattage, and a GPU disables the 2.5 in. bay.

288-pin desktop UDIMMs only (not SO-DIMM); ECC/RDIMM and x4 SDRAM modules are not supported. No XMP in BIOS, so faster DIMMs simply downclock to 2666 MT/s. HP says the two DIMMs must be identical part numbers to reach 2666 'max performance mode'; with unequal channels you get flex mode — put the extra module in Channel A. An older HP guide quotes DDR4-2400, but the G5 SFF manual specifies 2666/CL19.

Two PCIe x4 M.2 combo slots take 2230 or 2280 NVMe SSDs; SATA (B+M key) M.2 drives are NOT listed as supported — do not buy one. 2 TB per slot is HP's largest factory option (TLC), not a documented hard limit. 2230 modules need the correct standoff/screw. A third M.2 2230 slot exists but is WLAN-only (PCIe x1, HP BIOS whitelist).

HP's service guide lists 2x 3.5 in. bays; retail listings describe them as 2.5/3.5 in. combo bays, and 2.5 in. drives typically need an adapter/caddy (verify what the used unit includes). Factory max is 2 TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD; no absolute capacity limit is documented. Drivelock does not work with self-encrypting or Optane H10 drives.

HP's G5 QuickSpecs list only 9th-gen Coffee Lake Refresh Core i3/i5/i7/i9 plus Pentium/Celeron on the Q370 board. 8th-gen parts physically fit LGA1151v2 but are not HP-listed for the G5 — treat them as BIOS/unsupported. 65 W is the mainstream tier; 95 W K-series is supported in the SFF but removes the 2.5 in. bay option. No XMP or overclocking even with a K chip.
