SFF variant: 4 full-size DIMM slots, no soldered memory, socketed LGA1151 CPU. Do not confuse with the Desktop Mini / All-in-One variants, which have 2 SO-DIMM slots and 32 GB max. PCIe slots are low-profile only (max 6.6" card length); the x16 slots are rated 35 W with no auxiliary power, so GPU upgrades are limited to low-profile, low-power cards. Ships with TPM 2.0 (downgradeable to 1.2).

Needs 288-pin unbuffered non-ECC DDR4 UDIMMs with JEDEC SPD (CL17, 1.2 V); x4-based and XMP-only sticks fail to POST. 2400 MT/s requires a 7th-gen CPU (6th-gen caps at 2133). Use matched pairs for dual-channel. Only the SFF/Tower variants have these 4 DIMM slots.

1x M.2 2280 M-key NVMe (HP 'Turbo Drive', PCIe 3.0 x4); some G3 boards also take 2230 - check standoff. 4 SATA ports feed 2x 3.5", 1x 2.5" and the 9 mm slim ODD bay (2.5" drives need a bracket/caddy). M.2 is NVMe-only. No documented capacity or thickness limit; factory options top out at 2 TB HDD / 1 TB NVMe.

Skylake/Kaby Lake only - 8th/9th-gen CPUs will not work despite the shared LGA1151 socket (Q270 chipset/ME). HP validated 65 W desktop SKUs; 35 W T-series fit too, 91 W K-parts are unverified for BIOS/cooler/PSU. 6th-gen CPUs limit RAM to DDR4-2133. i7-7700 is the practical top.
