Gigabyte B450M DS3H-CF upgrades

Released 2018 · on sale

This is the original B450M DS3H (CF = internal model ID), NOT the V2 or WIFI variants, whose CPU/RAM support differs — check your revision before buying parts. No memory card slot, no U.2/SATA Express, no onboard 2.5"/3.5" bays. Kingston's page caps configurations at 64 GB (its own modules) while Gigabyte's manual states 128 GB.

4x DDR4 DIMM (dual-channel), up to 128 GB 4 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 128 GB total · 3600 MT/s

DDR4-2933 native; DDR4-3600 possible via XMP/OC. Achievable speed depends on CPU memory controller and drops with 4 DIMMs or dual-rank. Unbuffered ECC modules fit but run in non-ECC mode. 32 GB DIMMs are the least validated; Kingston lists 64 GB kits. Buy matched pairs for dual-channel.

M.2 slot is Socket 3 M-key, PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA; B-key-only and Key-E modules do not fit. A SATA M.2 drive disables at least one SATA port. No drive bays on the board itself; 2.5"/3.5" mounting and 7/9.5 mm SSD thickness limits are set by your case. RAID 0/1/10 on SATA only.

Rev 1.x manual lists Ryzen 1000/2000 and Vega APUs; Ryzen 3000/5000 gained support via BIOS updates (CPU support list varies by PCB revision; V2/WIFI differ). No USB BIOS Flashback, so old-stock boards may need an older CPU to flash. No manufacturer TDP cap documented; 105 W parts are on the CPU list but the 4+3-phase VRM limits overclocking headroom. HDMI/DVI outputs only work with an APU.
