Dell XPS 15 9510 upgrades
Both SO-DIMM slots and both M.2 slots are user-accessible, with no soldered memory. There is also an SD card reader (full-size SD, SDHC, SDXC), which is not listed as a slot because the schema has no full-size SD form factor. Use a wired ESD strap per the service manual.
- SO-DIMM memory slots: 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 3200 MT/s
- M.2 2230/2280 NVMe SSD slots: 2 × SSD M.2 2230 / M.2 2280 (NVMe) · up to 4.096 TB
SO-DIMM memory slots 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 3200 MT/s
Dual-channel DDR4-3200, 4/8/16/32 GB per slot. Dell lists only paired configurations (2x4 to 2x32 GB), so install matched pairs. Dell doesn't mention ECC; use standard non-ECC SO-DIMMs.

M.2 2230/2280 NVMe SSD slots 2 × SSD M.2 2230 / M.2 2280 (NVMe) · up to 4.096 TB
Dell lists 2230 up to 256 GB and 2280 up to 4 TB. It is unclear which slot takes which length, and the thermal bracket differs by drive size. Dell says PCIe Gen 3, but the spec sheet shows Gen 4 on 2 TB/4 TB configs; verify before buying Gen 4. Use SSD 1 if fitting one drive.
