Dell Precision 7510 upgrades

Dell Precision 7510 mobile workstation (Skylake, 2015-16): unusually serviceable. CPU is socketed (not soldered). 4x DDR4 SO-DIMM, no soldered RAM. ECC is only attainable with a Xeon E3-1500M v5 CPU; Core-based units are non-ECC only. Two storage bays: 1x M.2 2280 (NVMe or SATA) + 1x 2.5-inch SATA. No Thunderbolt, ExpressCard or WWAN slot. SD card reader present (not an upgrade slot).

262-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM only (desktop DIMMs won't fit). Populate 2 or 4 modules, never 3 or 1, per Dell. Max 64 GB needs 4x16 GB; 32 GB SO-DIMMs are NOT supported (per-slot max 16 GB). '2667 MT/s SuperSpeed' is an order-time option capped at 32 GB; Skylake's IMC is DDR4-2133 so third-party faster modules run at 2133 MT/s. ECC only works with a Xeon E3-1500M v5 CPU; Core i5/i7 systems run non-ECC only. Uses standard unbuffered SO-DIMMs, not RDIMM/LRDIMM.

Real-world layout is one M.2 2280 Key-M slot (PCIe x4 Gen3 NVMe or SATA) plus one 2.5-inch SATA bay (5/7/9.5 mm drives; 15 mm won't fit) - max two drives, RAID 0/1 possible. 2230/2242/2260 M.2 drives need an adapter. M.2 documented max is 1 TB, 2.5-inch up to 2 TB HDD; larger modern 2.5-inch SATA SSDs work. NVMe caveat: system ships in RAID (RST) mode, so switch SATA Operation to AHCI (via Safe Mode) for third-party NVMe drivers, which forfeits RAID.

Socketed (ZIF) mobile rPGA socket (Intel Socket G3 / rPGA946B family), not BGA - the CPU is user-replaceable. Only 6th-gen Skylake-H parts are supported: Core i5-6300HQ, i7-6700HQ/6820HQ/6920HQ and Xeon E3-1505M/1535M/1545M/1575M v5. Kaby Lake (7th gen) and later are NOT supported by chipset/BIOS. All factory CPUs are 45 W. Note the exact socket naming is not in the standard socket list; the CPU is PGA946/Socket G3 (not desktop LGA1151).
