1U server with 4 DDR4 UDIMM slots (64 GB max, ECC only). Storage is front bays only, plus optional BOSS M.2 and IDSDM microSD boot modules. There is no general-purpose internal M.2 or NVMe slot.

Use unbuffered ECC DDR4 UDIMMs, 8 GB or 16 GB, single or dual rank. Do not buy RDIMMs or LRDIMMs. Dell's pages contradict each other on registered vs. unbuffered, but the technical guide says unbuffered ECC only. 3200 MT/s modules need BIOS 2.5.1+ and run at 2666 MT/s.

Front drive bays (3.5" or 2.5" in carrier) 4 × HDD / SSD 3.5" / 2.5" (SATA / SAS)
Check the chassis variant first. Cabled models (2 or 4 bays) take 3.5" SATA or Nearline SAS only, with no SSDs and no hot-swap. Only the 4-bay hot-plug model supports SAS and SSDs, and 2.5" drives fit only there, in 3.5" carriers. Dell lists 56 TB max for 4 bays and 28 TB for the 2-bay model.
