Dell OptiPlex 5060 Micro upgrades

Micro (MFF, regulatory model D02T) only — the SFF and Tower variants have different memory slots and drive bays, so verify the chassis before ordering. CPU is socketed (not soldered) and upgradeable within the 8th-gen T-series list. No PCIe add-in card slots; expansion is limited to M.2 and USB.

DDR4-2666 on i5/i7 configs; i3/Pentium/Celeron configs run DDR4-2400 (speed is set by CPU, not chipset). 260-pin SO-DIMM 1.2 V only — desktop DIMMs, ECC or registered modules will not fit/work. 32 GB single modules are not supported (max 16 GB per slot). DDR4-3200 sticks work but clock down — don't pay extra for speed.

One M.2 slot accepts both SATA and PCIe NVMe (PCIe 3.0 ×4 by platform; Dell doesn't quote the gen) — check the protocol before buying. Mounting is an M2×3.5 screw into the board. The 2.5" bay is SATA 6 Gb/s, 7 mm height (9.5 mm fit not confirmed); M.2 + 2.5" can run together. A separate M.2 2230 key E slot is for WLAN only. Dell validates up to 1 TB NVMe / 2 TB HDD; bigger drives usually work but aren't tested.

Socketed CPU is user-replaceable (Q370 chipset). Dell's validated list is 8th-gen 35 W T-series only: Pentium Gold G5400T/G5500T, i3-8100T/8300T, i5-8400T/8500T/8600T, i7-8700T. 9th-gen parts physically fit LGA 1151 but were never BIOS-validated here — don't count on them. Dell lists 65 W for all SKUs, which is the chassis thermal solution limit, not Intel's 35 W TDP. Update BIOS before a CPU swap.
