Dell Latitude 7480 upgrades
Released 2017 · on sale
CPU is soldered (BGA): 7th-Gen Kaby Lake U-series (i3-7100U to i7-7600U, 15 W, 2C/4T) with no upgrade path — choose your CPU tier at purchase. Some listings misquote 6th-Gen CPUs (manual carry-over); 7th Gen is definitive. Don't confuse with the 12" 7280 (1 slot, 16 GB max). Optional Thunderbolt 3 is config-dependent.

2× DDR4 SO-DIMM (32 GB max) 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 32 GB total · 2133 MT/s
Two user-accessible SO-DIMM slots, nothing soldered. Official speed is DDR4-2133 (LaptopMedia claims 2400; faster modules just clock down). Non-ECC unbuffered only. Some SKUs ship one module — add a matched second stick for dual channel. Bottom cover uses 8 captive screws.

1× M.2 2280 slot (SATA + NVMe) SSD M.2 2280 (SATA / NVMe) · up to 1 TB
One M.2 2280 slot shared for SATA or PCIe NVMe. 1 TB is the documented factory maximum; larger NVMe drives usually work but are unvalidated — confirm NVMe support in BIOS first. No 2.5" bay. WWAN/WLAN M.2 slots exist but are not storage slots.
