Dell Latitude 5410 upgrades

Released 2020 · on sale

Intel Latitude 5410 (Comet Lake-U era, plus one 8th-gen Whiskey Lake i5-8365U option). CPU is soldered (BGA), not replaceable — no CPU slot; factory options are all 15 W: i3-10110U, i5-10210U, i5-10310U, i7-10610U, i7-10810U (top, 6C/12T) and i5-8365U. CPU is soldered; choose the SKU at purchase. Storage is officially single-drive (M.2 or 2.5" SATA, mutually exclusive). WWAN M.2 3042 Key-B is not a storage slot. Not related to the AMD-based Latitude 5411. Check the CPU before buying RAM, since operating speed varies (2400 vs 2667 MHz).

2× DDR4 SO-DIMM (non-ECC), 2400–2667 MHz 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 32 GB total · 2667 MT/s

Two user-accessible SO-DIMMs, nothing soldered. Rated module speed is not the operating speed: DDR4-3200 sticks run at 2667 MHz on 10th-gen Comet Lake, while DDR4-2666 sticks run at 2400 MHz on the 8th-gen i5-8365U. Non-ECC, unbuffered only. Dell's ceiling is 2×16 GB = 32 GB; larger modules are unsupported and unverified.

1× M.2 2230/2280 NVMe (PCIe Gen3×4) SSD M.2 2230 / M.2 2280 (NVMe) · PCIe Gen3+ · up to 1.024 TB

One M.2 Key-M, either 2230 or 2280 length (no 2242), NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4. The mounting post position decides which length fits. Dell lists 2280 up to 1 TB as the largest documented option.

1× 2.5" SATA HDD bay (alternates with M.2) HDD 2.5" (SATA) · up to 1.024 TB

Officially an either/or alternative to the M.2 SSD — one storage drive total per Dell's supported configs. Physically some units carry both connectors, but dual-drive is not documented; verify your unit before buying extra drives or a caddy. Dell lists 500 GB/1 TB 5400/7200 RPM options; no thickness limit documented.
