ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II upgrades
Bare motherboard with no drive bays. It has 6 SATA 6Gb/s ports (4 usable if M.2_2 is populated). Two similarly named boards differ: the older ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING lists a lower memory speed ceiling, so check you have the WIFI II.
- DDR4 DIMM: 4 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 128 GB total · 5100 MT/s
- M.2 Key M slot (M.2_1 CPU, M.2_2 chipset): 2 × SSD M.2 2242 / M.2 2260 / M.2 2280 / M.2 22110 (NVMe / SATA)
DDR4 DIMM 4 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 128 GB total · 5100 MT/s
Unbuffered DIMMs only. Speeds above 3200 MT/s are overclocks (up to 4800 on Ryzen 5000/3000, up to 5100 on 5000/4000 G-Series). Unbuffered ECC is accepted, but ECC support varies by CPU. Use a matched kit; four DIMMs are harder on the memory controller.

M.2_1 runs PCIe 4.0 x4 from the CPU. M.2_2 runs PCIe 3.0 x4 from the chipset. Using M.2_2 disables SATA6G_5 and SATA6G_6. The PCIe 4.0 speed on M.2_1 depends on the CPU, and APUs may be limited to PCIe 3.0. Both slots support NVMe RAID.
