ASRock Rack ROMED8-2T upgrades
Released 2020 · end of sale
ATX (305×244 mm) single-socket EPYC server board. Two variants exist (ROMED8-2T with Intel X550-AT2, /BCM with Broadcom BCM57416) that differ slightly in SATA counts and PCIe slot revision. PCIE7 has a retention latch only on R1.03 and /BCM revisions. NVDIMM-N support is a jumper option but not officially validated. No soldered CPU or memory; all components are user-upgradable.

8× DDR4 DIMM (RDIMM/LRDIMM, 8-channel) 8 × DDR4 DIMM · up to 2.048 TB total · 3200 MT/s · registered (RDIMM) · ECC
288-pin DDR4 DIMM slots, 8-channel 1 DPC. ECC RDIMM or LRDIMM only; RDIMM and LRDIMM cannot be mixed. Max 2 TB / 256 GB-per-DIMM needs 256 GB 3DS LRDIMMs (ServeTheHome, /BCM brief); manual and Kingston cap at 1 TB with 128 GB LRDIMM. 64 GB RDIMM/128 GB LRDIMM flagged 'wait for device to be validated'. Fill all 8 slots for full bandwidth.

2× M.2 M-key + SATA + 2× OCuLink 2 × SSD M.2 2230 / M.2 2242 / M.2 2260 / M.2 2280 / M.2 22110 (NVMe / SATA)
M2_1 takes 2230-2280, M2_2 adds 22110; both SATA 6 Gb/s or PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe (one mirrored manual wrongly says Gen3). Also 2× OCuLink (PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe/U.2) and SATA (8 via mini-SAS HD per manual, 9-10 in other listings — variant/revision dependent). M2_1, OCuLink and SATA 4-7 share lanes with PCIE2 (jumpers downgrade it to x8 or disable it). No drive bays on board.

AMD SP3 (Socket LGA 4094), single socket SP3 · EPYC 7001, EPYC 7002, EPYC 7003
Socketed single SP3 (LGA 4094) EPYC. Supports 7002 Rome and 7003 Milan (Milan-X needs BIOS update); 7001 Naples only with older BIOS — the latest BIOS drops it, so check shipped firmware before buying cheap Naples chips. TDP not clearly limited by ASRock; ServeTheHome cites 225 W while ASRock's CPU list includes higher-TDP parts (needs good VRM airflow). Requires a narrow-ILM SP3 cooler.
