Apple Mac mini (2018) upgrades
Released 2018 · support ended
No CPU slot: the Coffee Lake i3-8100 / i5-8500B / i7-8700B (65 W class, Intel UHD 630) is soldered BGA and cannot be upgraded — buy the CPU you need. No storage slot: the PCIe NVMe SSD (128 GB–2 TB, T2-managed) is soldered to the logic board with no SATA or M.2 connectors; max 2 TB was build-to-order only, and external Thunderbolt 3 storage is the only expansion path. With CPU, SSD and all ports board-soldered, a failed port or SSD means a full logic board replacement. 10 Gb Ethernet and 2 TB SSD were config options on the same A1993/EMC 3213 chassis.

2× DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM (under RF shield) 2 × DDR4 SO-DIMM · up to 64 GB total · 2666 MT/s
Standard 260-pin PC4-21300 non-ECC unbuffered SO-DIMMs. Access requires removing the bottom cover and four Torx screws on a metal RF cage; both slots ship populated (2×4 GB), so an upgrade replaces both factory modules. Apple officially calls RAM non-user-installable, so DIY upgrades may affect warranty service — keep and reinstall the original modules before any Apple repair.
