Es gibt zwei verwandte Boards: PRIME Z790-P WIFI (DDR5) und PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4 (DDR4). Die Speicherslots sind unterschiedlich ausgeführt, die Module sind NICHT austauschbar; die obigen Angaben gelten für die DDR5-Version (D4 ist auf 128 GB / DDR4-5333 OC begrenzt). Der CPU ist im Sockel, ersetzbar; kein verlöteter RAM. Die Speichergeschwindigkeit hängt von der CPU ab und davon, wie viele DIMMs/Ranks bestückt sind.

Nur DDR5 — DDR4-Module haben ein anderes Keying und passen nicht. Nötig sind unbuffered DIMMs ohne ECC. 192 GB Gesamtspeicher setzen 4x48 GB Module voraus (im Handbuch sind nur bis 32 GB pro Riegel gelistet, da es vor den 48 GB Modulen entstand). DDR5-7200+(OC) ist ein Bestwert mit 2 DIMMs bei XMP; mit 4 DIMMs oder Dual-Rank ist mit weniger zu rechnen. Achtung: Die D4-Variante ist ein anderes Board.

Es sind 3 M.2 (Key M) und 4 SATA-Ports vorhanden. Alle M.2-Slots sind ausschließlich PCIe 4.0 x4, eine Gen5-SSD läuft also nur mit Gen4-Tempo. 22110 passt nur in M.2_1 und M.2_3, M.2_2 maximal 2280. M.2_3 akzeptiert außerdem SATA M.2 — prüfe vor der Belegung aller vier, ob dadurch ein SATA-Port deaktiviert wird. Intel RST RAID 0/1/5/10. 2.5"/3.5"-Laufwerke passen je nach Gehäuse.

Sockel LGA1700: Unterstützt Intel Core der 12./13./14. Generation, Pentium Gold und Celeron. Die 14. Generation braucht vermutlich ein aktuelles BIOS (die originalen Handbücher nennen nur die 12./13. Generation). Es gibt keinen offiziellen TDP-Grenzwert, aber die günstige 12+1-Phasen-VRM begrenzt dauerhafte All-Core-Lasten bei CPUs der i9-Klasse. Prüfe vor dem Kauf die ASUS-CPU-Unterstützungsliste.
